Silica sand production process

Crushing and grinding is widely used in the silica industry to produce ground silica for the textile fiberglass industry. For the textile fiberglass industry, consistency of chemical components along with size distribution is as important as with other glass products. Washing is the simplest and lowest cost method of cleaning silica sand. Gravity separation for glass sands are limited to spirals since other gravity separation processes, such as enhanced gravity separators that are too expensive to operate or processes such as shaking tables that are too low capacity for glass sands, are not cost effective.
