Silica Sand Separation Plant

Silica sand is generally known as industrial sand and gravel with a high content of silicon dioxide, which is a chemical compound that is also known as silica. Silica sand is a type of sand which mainly consists of tiny granules of quartz. Silica sand also consists of other fine particles of rock and mineral. Granules of silica sand range in diameter from 1/16 mm to 2 mm, which is approximately 2/1000 of an inch to 8/100 of an inch. Sand silica deposits are mined to provide materials for industrial processes, such as making glass and drilling for oil.

Silica Sand Separation Plant

Silica sand is mined from pits or dredged up before being processed using mechanized systems. Sand and gravel are sorted for size using machines such as vibrating screens. After initial crushing and screening, silica sand and gravel are washed to remove unwanted dust and debris and are then screened and classified again.

If the deslimed sand or gravel contains mica, feldspar, and iron bearing minerals, it enters a froth flotation separation process to which sodium silicate and sulfuric acid are added. The mixture then enters a series of spiral classifiers where the impurities are floated in a froth and diverted to waste.

SBM has been specialized in sand processing technology for long history. We developed complete series of silica sand separation plant for sale, including crushing machine, grinding mill, vibrating screen, classifier, flotation separation plant, magnetic separator, gravity separator etc.

Crusher Plant for Silica Processing

Crushing is the crucial stage in silica sand processing operation. Several stages of crushing may be processed to achieve the desired size reduction. Gyratory crushers, jaw crushers, impact crushers, and cone crushers are used for primary and secondary crushing.

After crushing, the size of the material maybe need further reduced to 50 mm or smaller by grinding, using ball mills, hammer mills, ultrafine mill or vertical roller mills. The ground material then is classified by wet screening, dry screening, or air classification. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us for more information.
